Pets are not meant to be killed, are meant to be kept alive. They are not minions.

Because they are 2 valid reason and repeating them wont make any good?

Where did my post go?
Anyway, for those of you that keep saying I make pointless threads, if they bother you so much, don't read them. It's as simple as that.
I merely make suggestions to get different opinions. Sorry if you don't agree but you don't have to be flamers about it. And I know I'm not the only one out there who makes "pointless" threads.
Back on topic: Okay so maybe the reason pet deaths cause recharging skills is because of the grief of their death, but you have to admit it's annoying when you're using some kind of preparation or something that takes time to cash and your pet dies so right at the last second it says the skill is still recharging.

Sure its annoying, but its annoying also getting interupted/killed etc etc.
Its a game meccanism and there are good balance reason for it to stay

Maybe it's because EVERYONE thinks that you make pointless threads?
/notsigned btw
They should also revert the corpse thing with the pet, it's stupid.

You need to be penelised some how lol the way it is now requires a certain level of skill (if its even skill lol awareness seems to fit in better) to keep your pet alive.

OnTopic - Putting more points in Beast Mastery will lower the amount of time your skills are disabled as well, I'd look at this as a way of encouraging you to play your pet as more than an accessory.

There are only 3 builds you need to use pets.
1) Beastmaster, in which case you should be keeping your pet alive anyways.
2) Thumpers, which are lame. Don't run it.
3) IWAY warrior, which are lamer than thumpers. Don't run it.
If you're trying to be cute running a healing monk with a pet or a fire nuker with a pet, I feel no sympathy.

Like others have mentioned: make sure your pet does not die. It's really not so difficult.

Pretty much exactly what I figured. You can't just be all "Nooooooo! Fluffy! Oh well. *lays traps*" after all that work to charm, raise, and learn to fight with a pet.
|
That doesn't make sense. Why mourn a dead pet if a simple skill will bring it right back?
The real issue is balancing. Pets need to be given a downside, they can be pretty powerful with the right build.

I was being a little silly, but I think my point's valid. You're closely attuned to your animal companion, which is probably more like a familiar than a pet TBH. Losing the animal, even if you can bring it back to life, is supposed to be a severe disruption for a ranger. Hence the temporary shutdown.
I know it's mostly for balance; rangers are extremely dangerous, especially with a pet, if used right. But I prefer story and lore over game mechanics. :P

As others have said, it has been a core Ranger Mechanic from the beginning, and there is no reason to change it now.
Also, unless you're specifically running a Bestmaster build or B/P, it's best to leave the pet at home- safe and sound and unable to gimp you at the wrong moment.
